About Fence Calculator
From the run length and post spacing (6 or 8 ft presets) it computes sections, posts including the end post, and rails at 2–3 per section. Picket mode counts boards from the picket width and gap; panel mode simply needs one prebuilt panel per section. A bags-per-post field totals the concrete.
Common uses
- Build a materials list for a 100 ft privacy fence
- Compare stick-built picket counts against prebuilt panels
Example
Input
100 ft, 8 ft spacing, 2 rails, 5.5 in pickets with 0.5 in gap
Output
13 sections · 14 posts · 26 rails · 200 pickets · 28 bags
Limitations
- Assumes one straight run; corners and gates add posts and hardware
- Panel mode assumes spacing matches the panel width
