Does cropping an image reduce its quality?
The pixels you keep are taken from the image at its full native resolution, not from the scaled-down preview. Choose PNG output to keep them lossless; JPEG output re-encodes and can introduce slight compression artifacts.
How do I crop an image to a perfect square?
Select the square aspect preset. It locks the selection box to a 1:1 ratio, so dragging any corner resizes both dimensions together and the result is always exactly square.
What's the difference between cropping and resizing?
Cropping cuts away part of the picture and keeps the remaining pixels unchanged, while resizing rescales every pixel to new dimensions. Crop to change the framing; resize to change the size.
