About Pallet Calculator
Enter the pallet footprint (48×40 GMA preset included), the maximum stack height, and your box dimensions. The calculator tries both 90° orientations of the box against the pallet, keeps the better layer count, then stacks layers to the height limit — reporting boxes per layer, layers, total boxes, and how much of the stack volume the boxes actually use.

Limitations

Frequently asked questions
How does this work out how many boxes fit on a pallet?
It tests both 90° orientations of your box against the pallet footprint, takes whole boxes per row and column (no partial boxes or overhang), keeps whichever orientation fits more per layer, then stacks whole layers up to your height limit. Boxes per layer × layers gives the total.
What is a GMA pallet?
The 48 × 40 inch pallet standardized by the Grocery Manufacturers Association — the most common pallet size in North America and this calculator's default preset. Boxes sized to divide evenly into 48 and 40 inches palletize with little wasted air.
Why does my warehouse fit a different number of boxes than the calculator says?
The calculator uses one orientation for the whole pallet with no overhang, while real operations sometimes use mixed-orientation pinwheel patterns that squeeze in more, or lose boxes to overhang bans, weight limits, and stacking-strength rules. Treat the number as a solid planning baseline, not a load spec.
Is my shipment data uploaded when I use this calculator?
No. Pallet and carton dimensions are crunched entirely in your browser — nothing you enter is sent to a server or retained.
What does the utilization percentage mean?
It's the share of the available stack volume — pallet footprint × your maximum height — that the boxes actually occupy. Low utilization flags wasted air you're paying to ship, and often a small change in carton size recovers most of it.
