About Wallpaper Calculator
Wallpaper is bought in strips, not square feet. The tool divides the total wall width by the roll width to count strips, rounds each strip's cut length up to a full pattern repeat, works out how many strips a roll yields, and converts that into whole rolls. Defaults match the common US single roll: 20.5 in × 33 ft.

Frequently asked questions
How many rolls of wallpaper do I need for one wall?
A 10 ft wide, 8 ft tall wall takes 6 strips at the standard 20.5 in roll width. A 33 ft roll yields 4 full 8 ft strips, so that wall needs 2 rolls — with a pattern repeat it can need more.
What is a pattern repeat in wallpaper?
The vertical distance before the printed design starts over, listed on the roll label. Every strip has to be cut to a whole number of repeats so neighbouring strips line up, which is why the cut length rounds up: on an 8 ft wall an 18 in repeat forces 108 in strips instead of 96, dropping a 33 ft roll from 4 usable strips to 3.
Why doesn't this calculator subtract doors and windows?
Because the offcuts from around an opening almost never match the pattern anywhere else on the wall, so they can't be reused. Deducting the opening area would under-order; the tool counts full-height strips across the whole wall width instead.
Do I need to buy all my wallpaper from the same batch?
Yes — order every roll in one go and check that the batch or dye lot number printed on the labels matches. Ink shades drift between production runs, and a replacement roll bought later can show a visible seam against the rest of the wall.
Are my wall measurements uploaded anywhere?
