About Wallpaper Calculator
Wallpaper is bought in strips, not square feet. The tool divides the total wall width by the roll width to count strips, rounds each strip's cut length up to a full pattern repeat, works out how many strips a roll yields, and converts that into whole rolls. Defaults match the common US single roll: 20.5 in × 33 ft.
Common uses
- Buy the right number of rolls for a patterned accent wall
- See how a large repeat increases the roll count
Example
Input
40 ft of wall, 8 ft high, 20.5 in × 33 ft rolls, 18 in repeat
Output
24 strips · 3 strips per roll → buy 8 rolls
Limitations
- Door and window areas are deliberately not deducted — patterned offcuts rarely fit elsewhere
- Assumes a straight-match pattern; half-drop matches waste slightly more
