Rotate PDF

Files are processed entirely in your browser — nothing is uploaded to any server.

About Rotate PDF

Open a PDF and every page appears as a thumbnail. Turn any page left or right with its own buttons, or tick several pages — or type a range like "2-4, 9", or pick odd or even pages — and rotate them together. With nothing ticked, the buttons above the pages turn the whole document. Each thumbnail turns as you click, so you can see the result before you save.

The PDF is opened and saved entirely in your browser; nothing is uploaded. That makes it safe for the documents that most often come out sideways: scanned contracts, signed forms, and statements.

Lossless, unlike "print to PDF"

A PDF page's orientation is a single number in the file — its Rotate value, a clockwise turn in steps of 90°. This tool changes only that number. The page's text, images, fonts, links, and form fields are untouched, so nothing is re-rendered or recompressed, text stays selectable, and the file barely changes in size. Rotating a page through a print dialog or an image editor, by contrast, often turns it into a picture.

The rotation is permanent: once saved, every PDF viewer, browser, and printer shows the pages the new way — unlike the rotate button in most viewers, which only changes your view for the moment.

Common uses

  • Fix a scanned document where some pages were fed in sideways or upside down
  • Turn the landscape pages (charts, wide tables) of a report the right way
  • Rotate every other page of a double-sided scan that came out upside down — select Even and turn it 180°
  • Straighten a phone-scanned PDF before sending or uploading it

Example

Input

scan.pdf — 6 pages, pages 2 and 5 scanned sideways
Page 2: Right 90° · Page 5: Left 90°

Output

scan-rotated.pdf — 6 pages, all upright
Only the two pages' Rotate values changed; size about the same

Limitations

  • Pages turn in steps of 90°. Straightening a slightly skewed scan (a few degrees off) needs scanning or image-editing software.
  • Password-protected PDFs must be unlocked before rotating.
  • Very long documents load their thumbnails one by one; you can start rotating before they have all appeared.

Frequently asked questions

How do I rotate a PDF and save it permanently?

Open the PDF above, turn the pages you need with the rotate buttons, and press Save PDF, then Download PDF. The new rotation is written into the file itself, so every viewer and printer shows the pages that way from then on — nothing is uploaded, and there is no sign-up or watermark.

How do I rotate just one page of a PDF?

Use the rotate buttons under that page's thumbnail. They turn only that page, by 90° each click; the rest of the document stays as it is. To rotate a handful of pages together, tick them — or type a range like 3-5 in Select pages — and use the buttons above the pages.

Does rotating a PDF reduce its quality?

No. A page's orientation is stored as a separate rotation value, and that is all this tool changes. Text, images, and vector graphics are kept byte-for-byte, so the rotated file looks exactly as sharp as the original and text stays selectable.

Why does my PDF show the right way in one viewer but sideways in another?

Some viewers remember a rotation you applied for display only, or auto-rotate pages to fit the screen, without changing the file. Rotating here and saving writes the rotation into the PDF, so it is consistent everywhere.

How do I rotate all the pages of a PDF at once?

Make sure no page is ticked — the bar above the pages then says it applies to all of them — and press Left 90°, Right 90°, or 180°. Every page turns by the same amount, keeping any differences between pages.

Can I rotate a password-protected PDF?

Not directly. The tool can't decrypt a protected file and reports it instead. Open it with its password in a PDF viewer, save an unlocked copy, and rotate that.
